TALAQQI AL-QURʽĀN

REFINING YOUR QURʽĀN RECITATION

After studying Tajwīd the next step is to put them into practice and present your Qurʽān recitation to a teacher by means of Talaqqī Musyāfahah i.e. learning directly from and in the presence of a qualified teacher “face-to-face”. Talaqqī was practiced by Rasulullah ﷺ himself with the angel Jibrīl and is one of the hallmarks of Islamic education.

Through Talaqqī Musyāfahah learners are engaging in the oral transmission of the Qurʽān. Their recitation is checked rigorously against Tajwīd standards and mistakes get corrected directly by the teacher. It ensures the accurate recitation and preservation of Al-Qurʽān as it has been recited since the time of Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ.

Talaqqī keeps alive the cultural heritage of Qurʽānic recitation. It’s a tangible link to the past, connecting learners to the historical and spiritual roots of Qurʽānic practice. Students also become potential future teachers who can carry forward the tradition.

TALAQQĪ WITH IJĀZAH & SANAD

Riwāyah Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim (Ṭarīq Asy-Syaṭibiyyah)

Receiving Ijāzah is a mark of recognition from a qualified teacher that the individual has met the necessary criteria to transmit the Qurʽānic recitation authentically. Possessing an Ijāzah and Sanad demonstrates the reciter’s credibility and proficiency in reciting Qurʽān with accurate Tajwīd. It’s a testament to the recipient’s dedication, expertise, and commitment to preserving the accuracy of Al-Qurʽān.

It’s important to note that the process of obtaining Ijāzah is stringent and the individual seeking Ijāzah will undergo a rigorous evaluation. They must demonstrate not only their recitation skills but also their understanding of Tajwīd rules and their commitment to preserving the integrity of the Qurʽānic recitation.
